I've traced into the code again and I may have lead you astray for which I apologise. void __fastcall TfrmEMailPreview::rvvMessageJump(TObject *Sender, int id) { TCustomRVFormattedData *rvd; int ItemNo; rvvMessage->GetJumpPointLocation(id, rvd, ItemNo); if (rvd != NULL) { AnsiString URL = (char*)rvd->GetItemTag(ItemNo); ShellExecute(0, "open", URL.c_str(), NULL, NULL, SW_SHOW); } } When I trace into the code above after the line: rvvMessage->GetJumpPointLocation(id, rvd, ItemNo); the values are: id = 1 ItemNo = 5 rvd is ok & not NULL so it seem to find the location ok but then when the following line is executed: AnsiString URL = (char*)rvd->GetItemTag(ItemNo); the value of URL is NULL which causes the problem. Now the contents of rvvMessage is being read from a BLOB in the database, could the problem be caused by the options I have switched on when saving the contents in the first place. Regards, Etienne.
