Posted: 08/18/2004 0:38:40 Thanks for your answers, I will continue to check out RV to see how close it comes to fitting my needs. One of the apps I need it for is to allow the user to enter data into an RTF doc. I have attached the doc to see if you think this is within RV's range at this time. Basically all the fields underscored with blue dashes will be supplied from a db. All the fields double underscored in red are input by the user and stored in another db table. In the previous (DOS) application the user could tab his way through the document (which was really a template). If data had already been entered in that field it would be displayed there ready to be edited. Each tab stroke moved him to the next input field. At the end the entered data would be saved in the table. I should add that the user cannot change anything in the template itself. That can only be done via another function. I have looked at a couple of your demos (Query summary and Interactive doc). The Query summary appears to pull the input fields outside the doc and rebuilds the RV doc for each keystroke. Problems here are a) data input is outside the doc making it more difficult to the user than editing in-line; b) with a larger document rebuilding after each keystroke (or even OnExit for each field) would be inefficient and probably have a bad visual effect. The Interactive doc I don't understand. From the documentation it seems to demonstrate editing within the doc itself but I don't see it doing that. Of course, I'm not asking you to build this app for me just wanting to know if you think RV is the right tool for this kind of job, how I should go about it if using RV or if I need to be looking at something else. I'll look forward to your response. "Sydney Lotterby" <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected]... > Here's what I need to do (in D7). Can TRichView do all this? > > 1.
