Do you mean like this:

   with FRichViewEdit do

      begin

      SendMessage(Handle,WM_SETREDRAW,0,0);

      try

         ...

         ...

         ...

         Format;

      finally

         SendMessage(Handle,WM_SETREDRAW,1,0);

         Repaint;

      end; // try

      end;
