Maybe. I seem to remember that OpenOffice can draw some slight gray line 

around the printing area, if the user wants to. This might be a viable 

approach.

At least, I'd say it would be beneficial to either have a notice like the 

one you quoted from MSWord ("content too large for printing area") or an 

indication of the printing area. Otherwise, results may be surprising. 

Take me as example :)
