Posted: 06/30/2004 17:28:54 There is a couple of reasons why the caret does not disappear when selecting: unlike MS Word, it's important when the caret is: - (as you mentioned) there is a concept of current item - item at the position of caret; - In MS Word, when you press left arrow key when some text is selected, the caret will be at the top of selection, even if you selected from left to right, the same is with the right arrow key; so MS Word treats selection like a a large caret. I think simple hiding of caret without making something with the questions above is useless. May be this mode will be implemented in future, but not very soon. PS: trichview hides the caret when it's really not needed - on table multicell selection |
