Copying from Word into TRichView? |

Posted: 04/21/2004 7:28:47 Hi I have been copying and pasting from Word documents, to check out this functionality. I have generally found this to be better than expected! For example, I copied a 190 page / 950KB Word document and it opened fine in TRichView, and it recognised and retained quote blocks for formatting and brought across the Table of Contents that Word had created (as text, not another table of contents), and the references at the end with the reference formatting. Some questions though! I did this in both WPTools and TRichView, and what I found was that (i) The default behaviour of TRichView seems to be to make 'bold' go to the colour blue in the destination document and 'italic' to red, which seems a bit strange to me, and it loses all the size information. Is this behaviour configurable? I would much rather it went to the original font, font size, bolding, italicising etc as defined in the original document than to bold + blue for bold, italic + red for italic, etc. (iii) I had been using EndNote with Word, and endnote put hidden markers in like "<ADDIN>" (which flags that certain text is to be processed by a Word add-in, in this case the EndNote one), which WPTools included in to the destination document in the text whereas TRichview skipped these and just gave me the texts for the reference citation without an "<ADDIN>" in each case. I am not sure which behaviour I think is the best, probably TRichViews by default but configurable. Is TRichView configurable to additionally include such marker text, that is not part of the displayed text in the document, in the desintation text if you want it to? Any comments appreciated!
