Unfortunately, it will not help.

BPLs are used at designtime, but the problem is in PAS/DCU files that used

at runtime.

This method is correct.

List of directories where Delphi searches for units can be found in Tools |

Environment Options, tab Library, Library path. Path to old files is closer

to the beginning of the list, so Delphi will use them instead of new files.


PS: Delphi 8 is not supported yet.
